A few decades ago, I discovered that love wasn’t just spoken but it could be served from the kitchen.
Standing only as tall as the kitchen counter, I watched with wide eyes as my grandmother worked with all her Grace and purpose. The gentle tapping of her spatula against a mixing bowl, the rich aromas filling every corner of the house and the warmth that surrounded the kitchen made the heart of my grandparents’ home. The kitchen became my peaceful space.
One meal remains forever etched in my memory. Grandma’s crispy oven baked fried chicken. I never fully understood how something that seemed so simple could taste so incredibly delicious. What I did understand was, that every dish was prepared with love, patience, and care. Those were the ingredients that made every bite unforgettable.
Since, those early days of watching my grandmother, I have made it my mission to pay close attention, whenever someone was cooking. Every visit to my grandparents’ home was filled with warmth, laughter, life lessons and an abundance of food. Their home welcomed everyone with open arms. Family, friends, neighbors, and even strangers knew they could always find a good meal, encouraging words and the love of a family that faithfully served God.
Around our table, food became so much more than nourishment. It brought us together during celebrations, comforted us through hardships, and reminded us that no one had to face life’s challenges alone.
When Grandma unknowingly knelt to say what would become her final prayer, none of us could have imagined it would be her last.
After she was called to her heavenly home, our family rallied around Grandpa, loving him, caring for him, and making sure he never felt alone. During that season, a promise was planted deep within my heart. I knew I wanted to continue the legacy that Grandma Grace and Grandpa Leroy had built. They built a legacy of serving others with love, generosity, faith, and food.
That promise became the foundation of this business.
This business is about so much more than serving meals. It is about serving people. It is about setting a table spread, where others can experience the same comfort, peace, and love that I found in my grandparents’ kitchen. I want every person, who will be served, to feel welcomed, cared for, and reminded, that they matter.
The aroma from Grandma Grace’s kitchen and the love that filled Leroy’s home have never left my heart. They laid the foundation of my family, who shaped who I am and provided the inspiration for everything I do.
This is why I opened my business, to honor my family’s legacy, to bless those in need, and to bring people together, one meal at a time. No matter what we were going through, there was always room at Grandma and Grandpa’s table.
